For Memorial Day weekend this year, we went camping at Lake Wister in Oklahoma. There were nine of us total who went on this trip and it was a lot of fun! We went to the splash pad, went swimming in the lake, roasted marshmallows, and more! We enjoyed spending time together in the great outdoors. When going camping, or on any trip for that matter, I'd recommend two things: first I recommend writing a list out of everything you will need for each person. The second thing I recommend is to pack the night before. I packed the morning of and of course items were forgotten, and it was very stressful running around trying to make sure we left on time also.
While we were in Wister, we drove 25 minutes west and went to Cavanal Hill. It is the world's tallest hill with an elevation of 1,999 feet tall. A mountain is classified as an elevation of 2,000 ft or taller. It was a beautiful view, and I am glad we saw it.
It is always wonderful to spend time with family and take a break from the busyness of everyday life. Remember to always stop and smell the roses; or in this case stop to see the view!
For all of us homemakers out there it is our job to create peace in the home and to provide a space where all members of the household feel safe and at rest. One way we can do this by perhaps making one or two nights a week a screen free evening of board games or of outdoor play and relaxation. Bring the quiet to you and your family even when camping or whatever you enjoy doing to relax for a long weekend doesn't fit onto the schedule. Remember bonding and spending time together happens in all the little moments of daily life as well. Remember to notice them and cherish them. Pray always for your home to be a sanctuary and for your family to know peace daily.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend and a special thanks to all of the brave soldiers who have laid down their lives fighting for our freedom and security.
Happy Homemaking and Blessings to you all!
